October 2025
● Glenda Breeden, Vice chair, presided and called the meeting to order. Bill Breeden was at a death penalty forum in Bloomington. A moment of silence was taken for the current turmoil in our country and the world followed by the pledge of allegiance. Last month's minutes were approved and copies are on the front desk.
● Past Events: A recap of recent activities included the Apple Butter Parade, Cataract Bean Dinner, Spencer Pride Festival, Fiesta Owen County, No Kings Rally, and Hog Roast & Auction.
● Fiesta Owen County: Organized by the Chamber of Commerce was smaller than last year but had 5-6 countries represented with booths and samples of traditional foods. There was live music, games and activities for both young and old. Congrats to our group for their strong support and presence! There were many of us there wearing our Democratic T-shirts throughout the day.
September 2025
● The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm. August minutes emailed and copies on the tables. Minutes were accepted. There was a moment of silence followed by the pledge of allegiance.
● Jane Rubeck has stepped up to be Chair of Washington III with Don Taylor as Vice chair. Thank you!!! We still need to fill other precincts.
● Glenda Breeden clarified the incident that occurred on the September 1st rally march from the courthouse to McDonald's. A complaint was registered about some vulgarity directed at a youth in the Mcdonald's parking lot and the police showed up. Once investigated it was deemed a misunderstanding. It is our position not to respond to such vulgarity but to win hearts and minds.
August 2025
● The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm. July minutes emailed and copies on the tables. Minutes were accepted. There was a moment of silence for Donna Woodruff followed by the pledge of allegiance.
● Glenda Breeden gave the treasurer report as Sandra Calvert was out of town. Current balance $2,802.60 with $180 in outstanding bills. Act Blue doubled from last month and a $50 donation was approved to be given to the Community Foundation for Donna Woodruff.
● A review of all positive Democratic actions taken in July. Good Trouble Rallies and Protests were attended, Baked Potato Bar at Cataract Lake Community Center, Cataract Lake Community back to school supplies event, (people wept as they were so happy for our donations & presence), Motorcade for Medicaid, Historic Tivoli Street Dance and water station, Gosport Lazy Days parade & booth.
● Frank Coffin spoke of positions open for election in 2026 and handed out sheets on those positions and their duties.
● The technology report was given by Collin Rotella. We now have Instagram & Blue Sky. David Henk reported that we now have 351 Blue Sky followers.
July 2025
● The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm. Glenda Breeden opened the meeting with a
wonderful song she wrote, followed by a moment of silence and pledge of allegiance.
● Anton Neff, Owen County Councilman spoke about the importance of getting involved in the
town & county meetings. Another option is to follow on You Tube @ Owen County
Government and on Facebook @ Owen County Councilman Anton Neff. Anton mentioned
that the current Indiana governor is less friendly to its constituents. Senate Bill #1 favors
business owners on the backs of land owners...
June 2025
● The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm. It included a moment of silence, pledge of
allegiance, approval of previous minutes
● Financial report: $2,109 is in the bank, and 2 outstanding bills (gas & electric $90.0). A hat
was passed for donations to the party. The food donation jar is separate.
● Due to Linda Roy having a conflict of interest in her present position Frank Coffin has
accepted a roll on the election board.
● Rally for “No Kings” was encouraging and had an overwhelming response with at least 100
participants in Spencer...
May 2025
● Meeting was called to order at 6:30pm. It included a moment of silence, pledge of allegiance,
approval of previous minutes, resignation of Jane Rubeck as Secretary and approval of David
and Ann Henk filling the Secretarial position jointly.
● Financial report: $1470 was received from the yard sale, $2100 is in the bank, and there's an
outstanding recurring monthly electric bill of $35.00.
● Online presence: Website and TikTok updates were given. Tyler DeFord has agreed to serve
as the Online tech person with content approved by Bill Breedon, David Henk, Frank Coffin
and Tyler...
