February 17th, 2026 Democratic meeting summary.

  • Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30pm and followed by the pledge of allegiance.  A moment of silence was taken for those killed by Ice and also for those in the internment/concentration camps. Thanks was given to those providing food and pizza this evening.

  • Approval of the minutes:  January minutes approved and you can scan the QR code on the screen and read later.

  • Treasurer’s report:  Current balance was reported with the electric and gas bill still outstanding.

  • Minneapolis March: Bill Breeden shared some of his experiences from going to the Minneapolis march with over 6-700 ministers and 50,000 people.

  • Candidates:  Each candidate was asked to stand, introduce themselves and give a brief statement about themselves and their platform. It was recommended that they all plan a 3 minute elevator speech.

  • Happenings this month:

1.)  Candidate training was planned for 3pm Saturday at Democratic headquarters.

2.)  Nine challenges were filed for both Republican & Democratic candidates.  Frank Coffin stated that certified mail was sent to all of the candidates who had been objected to. He couldn’t answer any questions until he saw the paperwork and could assess it this week.

3.) .  Important dates:  April 6th, Friday voter registration closes at 4pm. It is crucial to check your voter registration even if you have voted 20 times. Go to Indianavoters.in.gov  to check.

April 17th, all candidates need to file the CFA4 campaign finance form by 12 noon. Even if you take in zero money and spend zero money you must file this form.

  • Delegates will be choosing the Secretary of State candidate at the convention this year.  Learn about the candidates. The current secretary of state, Diego Morales, can discount your vote if your voter registration is incorrect.  Again, check your registration!

  • Poll workers are needed as many candidates were poll workers in the past. A candidate can not be a poll worker.  A sign up sheet will be up front.

  • Outreach committee:

  1. Owen County theatre & alliance group have been using headquarters for their rehearsals of Godspell.

  2. Little pantry deliveries are meeting every Monday at noon

  • Building report: Cleaned the closet up front, labeled some of the kitchen cabinets and organized a bit.

  • Tivoli sign up:  Sign up sheet on the front desk.

  • The meeting adjourned.

NEXT MEETING:  March 17th; Supper/Social 5:30-6:30; business meeting 6:30-7:30
