About
Jacob Balash has proudly called Owen County home for the past nearly 30 years. At just 20, he bought his first home and restored it, receiving Owen County Preservations’ “Preservationist of the Year” when his home was finished. For the last 20 years, Jacob has been a driving force behind Spencer Pride. He was a co-founder and has been an integral part of the organization since it began 20 years ago. He’s been a member of its Board for the past 10 years while serving as commUnity center Director and volunteer coordinator. Jacob is proud of his work with Spencer Pride, helping to make Owen County a more welcoming place. Jacob also serves Spencer Main Street as its Design Chair, helping shape initiatives aimed at beautifying the community and ensuring that residents and visitors alike get a positive impression. Jacob has been with his husband Jonathan for nearly 25 years and the two of them are proud to be raising their son together. Now, inspired to ensure that every voice is heard and that citizens know about all of the resources available to them, Jacob is running for Clay Township Board. On the board he wants to support vital local services—ensuring dignity in cemeteries, a strong volunteer fire department, and compassionate support for those in need.
